Except in divorce cases, I have never heard of co-parenting, until I visited this site.  So I'm wondering if it could really work.  If I wanted to conceive a child without the responsibilities of being a wife, but was willing to be a mother, I guess I could understand that.  I'm not so sure that there are men that would want to be a father, without the benefits of being a husband though.  So, under what circumstances might you join the ranks of the co-parents?

The only time I'd consider co-parenting was where a good contract specified the requirements of both parents (time, money, Holidays, etc.)

I think this would be as difficult to do as raising a child from a divorced home.  It happens all the time, but the kids rarely "win" in this sort of circumstances.  I'd rather my kid be a winner!

Just my thought.

I think alot of people that get into co-parenting are usually lesbian and gay couples who wish to help each other out to create a child and then look after it together without actually being in a relationship etc.

If both couples were good healthy stable relationships then i would think this would be great for a child, 2 moms and 2 dads.

Clarissa,

Congratulations!  I hear it is a baby boy.  May your life be full of joy, as I'm sure he'll grow up as strong-willed, and determined as his mother.

May the Good Lord bless you both.
