This is me, at age fifty.

The question I'm most often asked is, "How does this work?"

My answer is that it is slightly different each time.  Usually, it involves the woman and her husband meeting with me, and we assessing one another with all the normal worldy prejudices that people inherently have.  If I like the couple, and they like me, then we talk further.

If you are using a sperm bank, the expenses can be really high--$1,000's of dollars.  Each sample (and it often takes five or six) can cost $350.00.  Besides, it is usually done in a doctor's office (they have the equipment to properly thaw the sample), and the exams, and the hormone shots the woman usually takes, all add a lot to the expense.  The "upside" of that is that you can be sure that the sample is valid, with a high motility, and a high sperm count.  You're reasonably sure to be disease free, and relatively confident that no significant genetic defect exists--because the sperm bank should have checked for these things.

But when a woman asks to meet me, she doesn't have the advantages of all those "security" measures.  It will cost a lot less, but all she gets is any medical exams she specifically asks for.  People can be sick, and show no symptoms.  Or they can be recessive genetic carriers of traits to which they do not have any characteristics.

When a woman eventually decides to meet with me, we often go to a motel room, where the exchange is made.  If we haven't already done so, a contract is signed.  I usually leave the sample in a cup in the bathroom.  I then leave.  She (sometimes with the aid of her husband) then use the sample and with a syringe like device, they implant the sample as far into the uterous as is possible.  (The guy would only get about eight inches in, so you don't need to go further than that.)

Then she usually lies still for ten minutes or so, but often she lies in bed all night.  Wait at least twenty-four hours, and use an e.p.t to see if you get a reading that fast.  If not, they invite me back, and we repeat the proceedure.

About 50% of the time, the woman asks that the repeated procedure be done "naturally" rather than messing with the artificial means.  It is more "accurate" and seems to have a better result.  But 100% of the time, that bothers the husband, and 75% of the time is emotionally bothersome to the recipient.  But if the first attempt didn't work (as the e.p.t. indicated) then the woman is more interested in getting pregnant, than worrying about the emotional distress of "cheating" on her husband.  That 24-hour wait is often enough to convince her that it is a clinical thing anyway--no more than submitting to a gynecological exam.

Anyway, that's how this "works."

If you really want to know how it works, call one of the "sperm banks" advertised on this site, and order a sample!  You'll come up to speed real quickly.
